Between Renunciation and Self-Sacrifice

The article discusses self-sacrifice by means of the traditional story of the sacrifice of Isaac. Its discussion focuses on Abraham's plight and how he copes from various perspectives. An attempt is made to apply the principle at the heart of Abraham's responses to a therapeutic context, based on arguments taken from the work of Soren Kirkegaard, the Danish philosopher.
