The article deals with passion as a social-cultural transformation of the lust and biological drives inherent in human sexuality. This passion exists in a state of constant tension, self-created and selfsustained. Within this process, individuals pay the high price of renouncing the satisfaction of their drives in exchange for security and profound meaning.
