The article presents a philosophical position that prefers the confrontation with the pain associated with realty and awareness. Nietzsche, Heidegger, Kierkegaard and others argue that for beings, Happiness is not an objective in itself but a means to achieve self-development, self-realization and self-actualization, the development of understanding. To them, the pain of conscious engagement with reality is attended by substantial benefits: the opportunity to learn, involvement in one's environment caring, dedication, as well as the opening of oneself to the beauty of nature and the love that infuses the world.
