In this article, inspired by Joe R. Feagin's statement: "Capitalism imposes huge environmental costs," part of his address Social Justice & Sociology: Agendas for the 21 st Century {ASR, 2001, 66(1), p. 3), I illustrate some of the issues mentioned by means of 10 paintings, accompanied by commentary in verse. I show how industrialization and rapid technological advancement impinge on our living space, creating problems of health, quality of life, and social justice. These paintings, as visual documents, combine understanding with personal experience.
