The author presents the reader with several visual images of the hope related to the belief in and aspirations for a better future because, after all, hope is a necessary condition for survival under difficult conditions. The visual realization of hope is found in common symbols that express the transition from an oppressive to a desirable situation, a collective or a private yearning. The abstract quality of hope can be expressed by figurative means as well as by the colors that characterize hope for the respective artist.
