In this article, the author deals with self-deception from the position of existential philosophy, while replying to the question of what brings a person, during the course of her life, to situations in which she ceases to resemble her true self. Paraphrasing Rousseau (2000): hypocrisy chains the spirit and cause the individual to lose his unique identity and personality.
