The article examines the influence of scientific breakthroughs on the future of humanity. The main thesis assumes that the 'advanced scientific and technological developments of recent years will give rise to "superior people" in terms of health and intellectual capacity. However, the poor segments of humanity (e.g.,in Asia, Africa and South America), in the future like the present will have no access to such advanced technology. This fact will, of necessity, induce the development of two civilizations — one "advanced" and one "stagnant"— with the rift between them continually swelling.
